I have entered the San Diego Fair’s Photo Contest!  My entry is of the Cygnus Loop.

In summer 2025, the San Diego Astronomy Association’s Dark Site in Boulevard, California, offered an ideal location for unveiling the ancient dance of the Cygnus Loop. This breathtaking 12-panel mosaic spans 180 x 120 light-years, showcasing the remnant of Supernova 1604 within Cygnus, some 10,000 to 20,000 years after its catastrophic explosion. The image captures intricate, delicate filaments and billowing bubbles, each stretching over 50 light-years wide, still glowing from the dying star’s final fiery breath.

I will hear back from the first round judges on April 15th.  Fingers crossed.  Stay tuned to find out the results and to finally get to see picture.
